Life, Love, and Possibility in Orthodontics

Dr. Kluemper has been involved in the education and practice of orthodontics and general dentistry for over 40 years. He graduated from the College of Dentistry at the University of Kentucky in 1983. After practicing for five years, he headed to Ann Arbor where he earned his MS and certificate to practice orthodontics from the University of Michigan in 1991. While there he was involved in the planning and implementation of GORP in its inaugural years. Since then, he has taught orthodontics at the University of Kentucky, the site of GORP in 1993. The never-ending search for a better way, or as Edward Angle put it, ‘…one best way’, has served as a primary motivating force for his entire teaching career. He is a dog-lover who also enjoys horseback riding, cycling and most of all, the company of his ever-growing family.

Dr. Callan graduated from the University of Iowa with a DDS in 1988 and the University of Michigan with a MS in Orthodontics in 1991.  Like many of you, He wanted to be an orthodontist ever since middle school and it felt like winning the lottery when it happened.  He’s been practicing clinical orthodontics ever since.  He began teaching clinical orthodontics part time in 2009 and loved it so much that he began teaching full time in 2020.  He’s so happy to be married to his college sweetheart, a father of three and a grandfather of two.  Dr. Callan was also privileged to be present at the very first two GORPs!
